it. at 1:25 this morning, the former cop and navy veteran allegedly shot at two police officers in corona california, wounding one. twipt minutes later he killed a riverside, california policeman in a stop light ambush. dorner is believed to have multiple weapons including a semiautomatic rifle. police chief charlie beck: >> of course he knows what he's doing. we trained him. he was also a member of the armed forces. it is-- it is extremely worrisome and scary, especially to the police officers involved. >> reporter: dorner was fired by the l.a. police department in 2008 after filing a false brutality complaint against a fellow officer. a document dorner is believed to have posted on his facebook page listed 11 people targeted for revenge. it says, "the violence of action will be high. i will bring unconventional and asymmetrical warfare to those in l.a.p.d. uniform, whether on or off duty. you will now live the life of the prey." investigators believe dorner's rampage began on sunday with the more than of monica quan and her fiance in a parked car. quan's father is a retired lo

to use a rifle. he's been awarded for his marksmanship. >> reporter: that's right. the u.s. navy quickly assembling what records it has on this man. and telling us he was a navy reservist. just until a few days ago, he separated from the naval service. we don't know when the last time is he showed up. but he has shooting expertise. let's go through it. according to navy records, he has been awarded the rifle marksman ribbon and the pistol expert medal. these are awarded for achieving a certain level of shooting accuracy at various distances. let's be clear. the plan is not a navy commander, he's not a navy s.e.a.l. he held a number of jobs as a reservist in navy security operations. in fact, he went to iraq, we are told, and had a job providing military security on iraqi oil platforms, to have that job, it is most likely we are told he did receive some advanced weapons training. you will remember back in those days, those oil platforms, a lot of concern about small boat attacks, sniper attacks, that sort of thing. so he clearly has a certain level, a worrisome level of weapons expertise.

to locating. christopher jordan dorner is his name. ex-navy reservist, ex-lapd officer with a grudge against the force. if you see him, do not approach him. get some place safe and contact authorities. the breaking news, police have located his burned out truck near big bear lake, which is about 100 miles east of los angeles. they have not, however, located dorner himself. just moments ago, we learned the fbi went to the suspect's home in las vegas. we don't yet know, however, what if anything, they discovered. meantime, back at big bear lake in california, fresh tracks were spotted nearby. however, police say they do not lead to the suspect. they are doing door to door. checkpoints are up on local roads. they've barred all choppers from the air space. christopher dorner is not only armed, dangerous and vowing revenge on his former fellow officers but also people close to them. in a strange and chilling online manifesto allegedly written by dorner he says, quote, i never had the opportunity to have a familiarly of my own. i'm terminating yours. as for his capabilities, a local police chief h

out why a 25-year-old iraq war veteran killed a renowned navy s.e.a.l. sniper, chris kyle. eddie ray routh is charged with two counts of capital murder. we have more on that. good morning, joe johns. >> reporter: eddie ray routh being held in jail on $3 million bond. a suspect in custody, but there are a lot of questions about what happened at the gun range and why. former navy s.e.a.l. chris kyle, who claimed a record 150 kills in iraq, died at the hands of another vet authorities say. allegedly using a semiautomatic handgun. what police don't know yet is why. >> i don't thank we'll ever know. he's the only one that knows that. but at this point, he hasn't made any comments to law enforcement as to why he did. >> reporter: kyle's friend, chad littlefield, and the suspect, eddie ray routh, all drove to the gun range together in a pickup truck. less than two hours later, kyle and littlefield were dead. routh fled to his sister's house, and she called police and he was eventually caught. routh is an iraq war veteran, leaving the marines in 2010. kyle, who wrote "american sniper" talked
